Highway 89 Media is actively involved in the development and production of independent documentaries. The following projects are just two of those currently in development and/or production:
Bluebird Cafe: The Movie

For over twenty-five years, The Bluebird Café has been an unlikely launching pad for some of country music’s biggest stars.
Tucked into an unassuming storefront in an equally unremarkable strip mall, The Bluebird Cafe has witnessed the birth of such musical luminaries as Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Kathy Mattea, and Faith Hill. The list of past performers reads like a “Who’s Who” of country and folk musicians. Long lines of aspiring songwriters, both young and old, still converge on the Bluebird for the opportunity to sing their songs before a panel of judges... and a chance at stardom.
This star-studded documentary will weave multiple storylines into an entertaining, compelling film that will leave viewers with an appreciation for the legacy and importance of the Bluebird Café.
California Bloodlines

California Bloodlines, is the working title of a documentary that explores the reality of cowboy life and culture in California through the eyes of a female rancher living alone in the historic Cuyama Valley. The film will incorporate history, poetry, music and personal narratives into a collage that tells the tale of a disappearing way of life. The project is being produced by filmmaker Eric Temple and singer/songwriter Tom Russell and is intended as a companion film to a future album of music by Russell.
Past Projects:
Eric Temple has been making documentaries since 1983 when he was working for the PBS station in Phoenix, Arizona. The following is a partial list of the films he has directed:
